i want us to talk more about how trauma can lead someone to violence. *this* is why i think everyone should be freed. *this* is why i think the road to abolition is in how we address harm in its immediate aftermath. *this* is why prison--which is incredibly violent--will

do nothing but produce & create more violence.

survivorship is also raced & gendered. young Black kids don't get resources when they're robbed/stabbed/hurt. they're often blamed for their own harm. i've seen folks not get appropriate medical attn bc they're gang affiliated.

i've seen folks literally be blamed for being shot. bc they had to have some beef with the person who shot them so it's on them.

i'm telling you now the vast majority of people who cause harm are survivors. the vast majority of people who are in prison for violence are survivors

and most of them don't see themselves as survivors because only innocent white women can be survivors. survivorship is raced & gendered-- survivorship is white womanhood.

my partner still doesn't see himself as a survivor. forget all the violence he endured behind the wall. he was a survivor of so much violence, state & interpersonal, before he ever hurt anyone else.
