Did you know that Chicagoans have no legal process available to recall @chicagosmayor ? Bills have been proposed by the Illinois government, but never passed. No matter how much we hate the mayor, and no matter how many people who voted for her have come to regret (1/?)

it as she shows us that “progressive” was just a hat she put on for the election to be swapped out for a police badge as soon as she was in office, we have no established recourse for getting rid of her. We can only firmly ask that she resign.

You deserve to have more power over your life. We deserve to make decisions together as a community. The majority of your representatives do not care about you, they care about preserving their money & power.

The few that want to make people’s lives better are tied up in a bureaucracy that is intended to make change slow.
#CPAC is a great step towards getting freer

Other cities are getting closer, conversations to disband or #abolishthepolice are being taken more seriously.

These things could still happen in Chicago because of abolitionists who have been building this movement for years.
But the utter disdain that people in power have for an entirely reasonable & possible set of demands shows that it’ll be a long fight even after those are won.
