Alright, I’m gonna do it: Babylon Bee interview with convicted felon and fairly open racist Dinesh D’Souza.

My prediction is that it’s going to be about how slavery defenders were all democrats, but also we should keep statues of them up.
Lol I got a Joe Biden as before it.
They introduce him as “a far right provocateur, according to Wikipedia.” Then D’Souza compares himself to William F. Buckley for some reason?

I can’t overstate the cringe, none of these three people have any charisma and the Bee guys seem actively nervous to be on camera.
Okay know D’Souza is making fun of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Less than two minutes in.
“We have a real underrepresentation of bar tenders in our politics, so she’s contributing to the discourse.”

Two minutes in, and we’re already at D’Souza (convicted felon) saying “lol AoC dumb because she worked a real job.”
Ohhhh man D’Souza doing this comedy routine about Bernie Sanders being Rip Van Winkle but a socialist. Why. The cringe. Why.
It’s becoming really clear that Kyle Mann is really sensitive about the “you’re obsessed with AoC, do you have a crush on her” joke. Every time D’Souza brings her up (which is often), he awkwardly jumps in with “you must have a crush on her.”
The Axe Cop guy to D’Souza: “How often do people confuse you for one of them a-rabs?”

D’Souza: *talks about previously having an accent*

Axe Cop Guy: Like Apu?
D’Souza just called Justin Trudeau a “beta male.” Not even trying to hide the alt-right language.
Now they’re just doing “you know leftism is kind of like a religion” and I’m not goi Nd to tweet any of that because it’s dumb and boring and overplayed.
Now he’s talking about a work by Flaubert he’s been reading called “The Temptation of Saint Sebastian.”

Read closer, genius: it’s “The Temptation of Saint Anthony.” Almost seems like you’re not actually reading it, you just wanted to sound smart.
Now we’re doing “Obama was a socialist who stoked racial division because according to his brand of Marxism, that’s how you get to communism.”
Lol, Kyle Mann told DSouza “your Bernie Sanders impression needs work” and I think D’Souza is legitimately mad and trying to play it off.
Now he’s complaining that Hillary’s America only won a Razzie award because the Razzies were trying to make an anti-Trump political statement.
Axe Cop guy asks D’Souza why his last movie’s poster featured Lincoln and Trump’s faces merging together.

D’Souza says it’s because they both served in times where there was a high crime rate?

Also, a real historian might know that Lincoln loved Marx.
Should note how unorganized this is: there’s absolutely no through line, it’s mostly just D’Souza speaking basically stream of consciousness for 45 minutes. I genuinely don’t even see the point they were trying to make with this, it’s so all over the place.
D’Souza: “Orwell was right when he said socialism just wants to turn you into a worm, into someone who conforms.”

ORWELL WAS A SOCIALIST ACTIVIST YOU ABSOLUTE HACK.
Kyle just interrupted him talking about college snowflakes or whatever to ask him what he thinks about Apu from the Simpsons.

Geeez. I have no sympathy for D’Souza, but come the hell on.
“We want to hear it from your mouth, if it’s okay for us to laugh at Apu.”

D’Souza, looking very annoyed, says he’s unplugged from popular culture and doesn’t know, like how Americans are unplugged from politics.

Axe Cop doesn’t let him pivot: “Or about Bollywood.”
He’s pivoting you Biden, clearly very uncomfortable being asked to speak about Apu. Taking bets now for if they bring it up again.

Worth noting that this episode is titled “Civil War, Socialism, and the Simpsons,” despite D’Souza saying he’s never watched the Simpsons.
Yep, they’re pushing it. They’re now explaining who Apu is to D’Souza, who seems uncomfortable. Ultimately, according to Dsouza, “humor relies on stereotypes, and stereotypes contain a grain of truth.”

Shouldn’t have expected different from the guy who wrote this.
Now they’re asking D’Souza if this joke was offensive, clearly fishing for “an Indian guy said it was okay.”

D’Souza says it wasn’t a very good joke.
“Did you get any tats while you were in the slammer?” asks Axe Cop.

Worth noting that D’Souza went to prison for campaign finance violation, but it was a minimum security weekend-only prison. His movie about his time (Obama’s America, I believe) is extremely racist.
It’s over, but apparently there’s an additional segment for Babylon Bee subscribers? It’s such a weird transition, the video just kind of cuts off mid-discussion and cuts to a “coming up next for subscribers” ad.
In summary, I almost feel bad for Dinesh. He clearly came on wanting to be treated like a history expert, and around 1/3 of the podcast was about him being Indian.

He chose this life, he brought this on himself, but still uncomfortable to watch.
It’s at least funny how few people are watching these: despite having nearly half a million twitter followers, none of the podcasts have broken 1,000 views and most can’t get over 500. Several have fewer views than the video of me reading the Applebee’s menu.
Looks like even fans of the Bee think Kyle and Axe Cop did a bad job.
