I've seen people use 1930s Germany as an example to legitimize focusing on one group. If people then were saying "Jewish lives matter" wouldn't that be legitimate, they say? 1/6
Sure. But, laying aside the incomparability of the two scenarios, no one in Germany then *was* saying that. But, it might be important to think about what they were saying... 2/6
They were saying things like "The Jews are privileged." "The Jews are the reason for our suffering." "The Jews own all the banks." 3/6
And what was the result of those beliefs? They caricatured Jews as universally evil. It was genetic, every Jew was impacted by their Jewishness, therefore there was no such thing as a good Jew. 4/6
Next, they banned Jews from teaching a universities, from the professions and from government jobs. Then, they targeted Jewish works of art and books for destruction. Then, they targeted Jewish businesses for destruction. 5/6
Finally, they targeted Jewish lives for destruction because the only way to be rid of the oppressor was to kill them all. 6/6
