Somethin I been reflecting on is this weird behaviour/privilege of settler mobility in organizing and “activism” culture that is somehow normal amongst yt settlers and even non-black or indigenous POC.
Like hang around ndn communities, extract stories, struggle and knowledge from ndn communities, say you’re ride or die for ndn land, commit to organize and work alongside ndn communities. Maybe even write ur thesis or get arrested for ndns lol.
But then change your mind and dip out when it gets difficult, or when ndn people hurt your feelings. Settler mobility is also how sometimes poc and settlers dispose of Black or ndn people when they aren’t quick and eager to coddle settler trauma.
A real nasty settler move in “organizing” is behaving in a really transient way, never investing in long term accountability to place, or having meaningful relationships with Black or Ndn people from the community/territory.
Yet, somehow because of the politics, stories, teachings, protocol, trainings, language, and knowledge you have extracted from Black and ndn communities, u can still snag a credible role as an organizer and advocate for our territories and shared liberation lol
