As @DOOMTREE and (hopefully) @rhymesayers look at the situation and start to prepare their statements and figuring out how to address their connections with Fundo, Prof, and all the other problematic men they’ve surrounded themselves with, I really hope they look at the culture
they’ve helped perpetuate. As people with a pretty important platform, at least locally, I hope they listen to survivors and examine the actions all around them, not just pick a scapegoat and act like it was all one bad person who caused this. Much like we know racism isn’t just
the Klan, it’s the whole system around us, the misogyny and anti-women/femme culture in the community isn’t just Fundo or Prof or Tiiiiiiiip, it’s all around us. And every time we let people slide on how they treat women, we perpetuate it. Those are the steps that we need to see.
So please don’t make Dessa or Sa-Roc do the work or be the public face of your efforts. We already saw what happened to @PsalmOne. Now is the time for the men in charge, with the most structural power, to address where the failures are and work to repair the community.
Examine this thread and see how many of your close associates pop up, sometimes again and again. https://twitter.com/hellobabyghost/status/1275142767082188800?s=20
Understand why people are hurt and disappointed when your actions haven’t lived up to how you’ve presented yourselves. Please. We all need to be better and you can take this opportunity to be leaders I’m real action, or you can pay lip service like Prof’s statement.
I’d also encourage @citypages @ChrisRstrib @RossRaihala to take a look at what’s gone on here over the past few days and try to engage with it on their platforms. It’s going to take a lot of energy from a lot of people.
