The differences in Covid indicators between Scotland and England are now rather stark:

Ave daily new cases 20🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 1300
Ave daily Hospital admissions 5🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 330
Ave daily deaths 3.5🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 130

England has x10 population.

These measures were largely in step until mid May.
While the trend shows reductions of each indicator in each country, the rate of reduction in Scotland is considerably faster.

You can see this using a logarithmic axis for hospital admissions per million since 1st April, the gap widening considerably through May and June.
Scotland appears to be on track for near elimination of the virus from the community over the coming weeks.
Contrastingly, England seems likely to suffer an enduring and painfully long tail.
In this light, further relaxing of measures in England seems inexplicable.
Finally, it's notable that this now established divergence does not appear to be considered significant enough to merit questioning and discussion by the Downing St press rota.
