If you voted for Brexit and shafted your fellow UK citizens but have availed of an EU passport by using my country (Ireland) as a flag of convenience, please do us all a favour and just shut the fuck up forever.

Thanks and have a nice day.
They're usually the kind of people who think having Irish ancestry rather déclassé - "piss-poor potato refugees, darling" - but are not above sniffing out a Celtic gene or two to ensure their own rights remain unaffected.

I think Irish rules on this are lax and sentimental.
Many of these people don't give a flying fuck about Ireland (as their voting patterns and continued support for this disaster capitalist coup demonstrate). Why should they be extended the privilege of citizenship of a country about which they know nothing and care less?
So no simpering "welcome to the family" or "céad míle fáiltes" from me, I'm afraid.

Rights should come with responsibilities.

As far as I'm concerned, they can all do one.
I mean, handing out citizenship rights to all and sundry who can disinter a single Irish-born grandparent? Give me a break.

Irish citizenship rules are LONG OVERDUE a rigorous re-examination. Our generosity is being abused.
