1/n | This thread is an impromptu string of thoughts that are coming to mind after having a random unplanned chat with a group of learned people a while back.

Topic was: #COVID19's effects on #Businesses (especially Small & Medium scale enterprises, #SMEs)

#bricksNmortar
2/n | While many #NGOs, Social houses, Trusts, Governments, et al. tried to address & mitigate the problems of the society categorised under empirically derived #poverty line, very few have cared about the #LowerMiddleClass, & #SmallScaleIndustries, & #SMEs.

---

3/n | With respect to outcome of impromtu discussions we had, it was noted that the foremost practical problem of the #SMEs and the people associated with them-- which include their #owners/ managers/ employees/ workers-- are now on the verge of #bankruptcy.

---

4/n | Since almost no production has happened in these #SMEs since last week of March 2020, and the fact that the usually meagre #WorkingCapital has also dried up, their #CashFlows have become do very strained that their very existence is questionable now!

5/n | Based on the feedback, the workers & labour category are still eligible to seek food (ration) provion and basic monetary help from the Government ( #MNREGA, #JanDhan, etc.), it is the Owners, Managers & Contractors, who are finding themselves #nowhere!!

---
#bricksNmortar
6/n | The Owners of these #SMEs, #SmallScaleIndustries, #Shops, #Warehouses, #Suppliers, #Retailers, & other #ServiceProviders are fast getting on the verge of irrepairable #bankruptcy, and no one caring or extending a helping hand to them during #COVID19!

7/n | The such financially strained people are supposed to pay to their wards' school fees, repay loans & rents, settle the minimum contract demand of electricity/water/etc. with no input income at all.

Many businesses are on the very verge of #COLLAPSE ☹️

---

8/n | Central & State Governments might retort that they've extended moratorium to repayment of dues & loans to #SMEs.

But, is that sufficient to survive?

Don't these SMEs require a monetary lifeline and financial aid so as to sustain?

Time to think!

9/n | We're going to initiate the handles:

#SaveSMEs

#SaveSmallScaleIndustries
#SaveBricksAndMortarBusinesses

We're going to put this matter across to concerned governments & authorities.

SHARE THIS INITIATIVE WITH ALL CONCERNED.

10/n | On 20th June 2020, #GaribKalyanRojgarAbhiyaan launched by Government of #India, which is a praiseworthy initiative. It endeavours to take care of the #MigrantWorkers in the rural areas.

A similar package must also be started for the #middleclass🙏 https://twitter.com/DDNewslive/status/1274228119461703681?s=19
To: All concerned ministries

Sub.: Helping hand to #MiddleClass, #SMEs, #SmallScaleIndustries, #SmallBusinesses

Hon'l @nsitharamanoffc,

Came across this 👇 #newstweet reg. assistance economic package for #MSME in the Indian State of #TamilNadu

Could someone in @minmsme or @FinMinIndia or @nsitharamanoffc guide similar news links for rest of Indian States & UTs so that we can pass on the word to the needful 🙏
