Jaun Elia, a commnunist. A thread
Many of the people like Jaun Elia's poetry. Not many here, think of him as a serious poet. Perhaps, this is because they have never read him. John Elia's love poetry has taken social media apps by storm over a decade now. +
Issue comes when these social media handles only post a particular 'sad'/love side of his poetry. This is problematic and the air needs to be cleared.
Syed Sibt-e-Asghar Naqvi, commonly known as Jaun Elia, was a Pakistani Urdu poet, philosopher, biographer, and scholar. +
He has written many books, notebly, Shayad, Farnod, Goya, Lekin, Yani and Guman. His is poetry revolves around the philosophy of Anarchism and Nihilism and an unending thirst for suffering.

تم خون تھوکتی ہو، یہ سن کر خوشی ہوئی،
پس اس رنگ، اس ادا میں بھی پرکار ہی رہو.
Jaun Elia was initially educated at Darul Aloom Deoband, this inspite of his family being Shia. Later his Ideas were in favour of the Communist philosophy. On the creation of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, John Elia has written in his book, Shayad +
“If Pakistan was formed in the name of Islam, then at least the Communist Party would never have supported its demand.”
In a poem ‘Sarzameen-e-khwab-o-khayal’ he has written,

Khush badan! perahan ho surkh tera,
dilbara! baankpan ho surkh tera.

(Beautiful! May your clothes be colored red,
beloved! May your adolescene be turned red.)
Elia doesn't Marxism and Religion contrasted. He writes:

"We never feel threatened in admiring Dante. Though he had written offensively against Prophet Muhammad and his son-in-law Hazrat Ali......
We are not afraid while writing and teaching the ideas of Lamarck and Darwin. Their ideas are in contradiction to any religion."
A more interested read of Elia's poetry reveales that, his poems are actually political & carry marixt interpretations.

Ye to badti chali jati hai miyad-e-sitam
Juz harifan-e-sitam kis ko pukara jaye
Waqt ne ek hi nukta to kiya hai taleem
Hakim-e-waqt ko masnad se utara jaye.

Jaun Elia died in Karachi, on Nov 8, 2002 after a long illness in a friend’s house.

Tum jo kehte ho ki mar gaya hai Jaun,
yaad rakho ki soch kabhi nahi marti.

Mohtaram Jaun Elia for you all.

Hai kuch aisa ki ye sab kuch,
Isse pehle bhi ho chuka hai kahin.

Men make their own history, but they do not make it as they please; they do not make it under self-selected circumstances, but under circumstances existing already, given and transmitted from the past.
