Hearing on Safoora Zargar's bail plea begins before the Delhi HC.

SG Tushar Mehta submits that the state agrees, on humanitarian ground, to release Safoora on regular bail subject to certain conditions

SG Tushar Mehta says that without going into the merits of the plea, and without considering this as a precedent, state has no problem with Safoora being released on bail provided she doesn't indulge in activities she's being investigated for

Other conditions put forward by state include that Safoora should remain in Delhi.

Nitya Ramakrishnan submits that Safoora will have to be allowed to visit her doctor who lives in Faridabad

SG Tushar Mehta says that it must be recorded in the order that this is being done on humanitarian grounds, it has no bearing on the merits of the bail plea, and it shall not set a precedent

Justice Shakdher notes that this tug of war between who should represent Delhi Police should not jeopardise the relief sought by the accused

SG Tushar Mehta submits that he has been appointed by the LG to represent Delhi Police in these cases.

'Every hearing should not become ugly due to these arguments', Mr Mehta submits

Delhi HC grants regular bail to Safoora on furnishing a personal bond of ₹10k and on the following conditions:

a. She should not indulge in activities she is being investigated for
b. She should refrain from hampering investigation

Another ground: Safoora will have to seek permission of the concerned court before leaving Delhi for any purpose

Another ground: Safoora to remain in touch with the IO once in at least 15 days by calling the IO

Court further notes that this bail order shall not be cited as a precedent either in this case or in any other case

Justice Shakdher further highlights that he received certain documents in sealed cover from the state which he has not opened or perused. The same are being returned to SG's office.
