one thing people need to realize is that “(keynesian) liberals” and “conservatives” both belong to the liberal democratic political tradition

another thing people need to realize is that neoliberalism and neoconservativism feed off each other and are two sides of the same coin

conservatives *ARE* liberals in the sense that they believe in the concept of a liberal democracy as defined by the enlightenment

neoliberals *ARE* neoconservatives in the sense that neoliberalism cannot sustain itself unless through endless war and aggressive imperialism

these definitions matter & part of why US politics are so fucked up is that people don’t truly understand what they mean or how to apply them to people

the traditionally conservative party, the GOP, abandoned the concept of liberal democracy. they’re fascist

the traditionally liberal party, the democrats, are a big tent that includes conservatives, liberals and whatever leftist votes for them. they’re neolib/neocon
