debunking popular anti-sam arguments, aka good counterpoints for sam stans to use if an anti tries to argue with you

okay for starters i just want to say that i'd like to focus on sam-positive views rather than dean-negative views. i'm here to defend my comfort character, not put down fans of his brother. i made this bc a lot of these statements are factually wrong, so i wanted to correct them!
"sam doesn't care about dean!"
yes he does, they just show love in different ways. sam has always cared more about dean than he does himself. dean is his entire life. he dropped everything to try to get him back in between s3 and s4, then again between s9 and s10 and s13 and s14

he also makes sure to ask dean if he's okay, because he knows his brother and knows when he's not doing well. he encourages dean to be better about sharing his feelings because he knows it could help him. he always offers dean the opportunity to talk, even when he doesnt want to
"sam didn't look for dean in purgatory!"
sam thought dean was dead, and had every right to think so. he exploded in front of his eyes, and had no way of knowing if something other than death happened to him. there was no lore on leviathans, so there would be nothing to research

and let's not forget that dean never looked for sam when he went to hell! dean is angry at sam for not looking for him, even though they agreed to let each other stay dead, and dean didn't look for sam either. everyone is upset at sam for moving on when dean did the same thing
"sam had a happy childhood while dean had to raise him!"
neither of them had a happy childhood. yes, dean had to raise sam and it was awful for him. but that does not mean that sam had a happy childhood. he never had mary or a normal life, just hunting with dean and john

he ran away time after time because he was in an abusive environment. john was never there for him and dean wasn't the greatest guardian either. he relied on his imaginary friend and his experiences with other families or just being on his own in order to get any shred of peace
"sam killed dean's daughter!"
emma was going to kill dean. that's it. if sam didn't kill her then she would have killed dean. some say that sam did it to get back at dean, and that may be part of it, but overall it was to keep dean from being killed. that's all there is to it

"the apocalypse is sam's fault!"
sam had no idea that he was breaking the last seal, he believed that killing lilith would prevent the apocalypse from happening. there were 65 other seals that were broken, and dean broke the first, so placing the blame solely on sam is blatantly

ignorant and wrong. his actions were just the final straw, not the entire damn hay bale. he was MANIPULATED into truly believing he was doing the right thing and he carried years and years of guilt for it, and still gets blamed for something that wasn't his fault
*general bashing sam for the demon blood*
sam was dealing with a severe addiction. he was manipulated and groomed by ruby into becoming addicted to her blood and the power high that it gave him, and she lied to him and told him that it was the only way to kill lilith

he used his powers for good, exorcizing demons without killing their vessels, and he was still villainized. the detox that dean gave him was an extremely harmful thing to do and the total wrong way to handle the problem. sam needed help but didnt get it because he was "a monster"
"sam is straight!"
(this one is purely my opinion!!! you can skip if you want)
in canon, sam has not said a word about his sexuality. he uses gender neutral terms to refer to his past partners, has summoned two male demons, is uninterested in the women who hit on him, i could

honestly make a whole separate thread for why i think sam is bi (and i might) because theres canon evidence that hints at it. this does not mean that dean cant also be bi! they can both be bi, and that's okay. you can also have your headcanons, but dont say sam is canon straight
"sam is dumb/dean is the smart one!"
why can only one of them be smart ???? sam went to STANFORD. i don't really know how you can overlook that. sam does the research, he loves to read, he Went To Stanford,,,, i will admit that the writers do him dirty and sometimes portray him-

like a dunce. but most of the time he's incredibly smart and it's part of his character. and that's not saying that dean isn't smart!!! he totally is, in different ways than sam. they're both smart. i really have never understood the argument of calling sam dumb.
i might add onto this thread if anything else comes to mind but i think that's all for now
