This is a thread about all sorts of #Peaches and #Plums found locally in #Assam
#Peach #Nectarine #Plum #Apricot #Cherry are all closely related members of the Prunus genus. They are commonly referred to as #StoneFruits because their seeds are very large and hard. We don’t get
Nectarines and Apricots in Assamese markets.

1. Nora Bogori ( নৰা বগৰী ) Green Peach. Main diff bw a normal peach 🍑 n Green peach, is that the #NoraBogori is green with red patches on the outside 👇 A firm flesh, with intense red near the stone pit. Local peach of Assam.
2. Aaru (আৰু आड़ू ) Peach 🍑: Normal peach found in the market, but grown in North India. Not local. Yellow or reddish yellow in colour. (আমাৰ নৰা বগৰী সমান সোৱাদ নাই, সেৰসেৰীয়া 😜 )

Both Nora Bogori and Aaru (Prunus Persica) are peaches and has a fuzzy skin ( চালত শুঙ আছে)
3. Nectarine (शफतालू ) Apricot (खुबानी)
are not found in Assam. Maybe as jams or dried apricots.

Nectarines and Apricots are different from Peaches mainly because of skin. Peaches have fuzzy skin ( চালত শুঙ আছে) Nectarines n Apricots have smooth skin but looks like peaches.
4. Plum ( প্লাম आलूबुखारा ) Prunus domestica. In Assam, the local plum in the market, comes from the hilly areas and are big and black or reddish purple.
ক’লা বা উগ্ৰ ৰঙা বা বেঙুনিয়া প্লাম, বৰ ৰসাল, অসমত নগজে !
5. Ahom Bogori ( আহোম বগৰী ) Cherry Plum.
This plum is smaller than the normal black plum, is more golden and red. It is more sour and has a firm flesh. This is our local Assamese plum.
The normal Plum has a very juicy flesh and much sweeter than the Ahom Bogori. Cherry Plum.
6. Xoon Bogori ( সোন বগৰী ) Yellow Plums or Mirabelle Plums

This is an old Assamese Plum varietal. Grows wild too. A favourite of parrots. Once upon a time, was very common in upper Assam. But now, most Assamese do not know about it. Very sour, its tartness is a bit bitter.
7. Cherry 🍒 Cherries are not local to us. But its grown in the hilly areas. Its available in our local markets.
