sterling was the one i created first, based around the studies of phineas gage. the whole idea of something happening to your brain and you becoming a completely different person. sterling barely remembers anything from their childhood, and is kind of a broken person because of+

it. they dont feel empathy very well and have a lot of short-term memory problems that often affect their day-to-day. however, they have a tough time caring about that. they dont care about their past or who they used to be, having the sentiment that they should just move forward

of course, sterling doesnt know this, but their amnesia and personality trauma were caused by a factory accident. they were stabbed through the eye by a large piece of metal, and their left arm was practically torn off by machinery. they would’ve been+

immediately presumed dead if it werent for the fact that they were very much alive for a few minutes after the incident, before passing out.

and they probably would’ve died-or at least been seriously crippled-if it werent for ruce. ruce is a freelance engineer and inventor who makes money by building custom-made weaponry for those who pay. its very much illegal, but he doesnt care, and he knows how to keep under the+

radar of the law. ruce refuses to tell sterling why he helped them.

currently sterling works as a hitman for hire, as though their past is a mystery to them, they still have quite a good muscle-memory for combat. that, paired with ruce’s technology, makes quite a lot of money in a rather dystopian city.

both of them are very very forward, not caring much for romancing or tip-toeing around the subject. it didnt take long for them to fall into a relationship, they play off each other well, and are unapologetically intimate

aight now im gonna talk about them individually real quick:
sterling is smug and, frankly, an asshole. they arent afraid to get their hands dirty and always face fanger head-on. they can be reckless, but keep things flexible. they can come off as apathetic, but truthfully they+

fear the prospect of what they dont know. they hate failure and the idea of not being who they want to be. they tend to internally dehumanize others, using it as a defense mechanism to cope with their lifestyle.

ruce is extremely clever. he can work out how things work extremely quickly and has an insatiable curiosity for how far he can get. he loves pushing limits, often acting purely on curiosity. he has a bad gauge of danger, and is quite nosy, always wanting to know every bit about+

everyone he meets. he’s not exactly infamous, but his name is known by a lot of people, whether that be positively or not.
