English-speaking fandom, if you are commenting under a Japanese artist's work that you like, DO NOT USE MEMES LIKE THIS. English humor/sarcasm does not translate well in Japanese and they will misunderstand even if you did not intend to be mean

I was wondering why an artist I like moved accounts, so I went down their original (which is now locked) and this is what I found.
If you are interacting with a Japanese post, please just leave polite and positive comments. A simple "I love this!" is more than enough.

I want to also add that this applies to ANY foreign posts. If you want to respectfully interact and express your appreciation, using very basic English compliments is the best way to go. Trust me, a simple, "This is so beautiful
" will make their day tremendously!!

My mentions are bombarded so I can't reply to everything, but here are some acceptable reaction images you can use as an alternative instead. OP also included Japanese versions for it!! https://twitter.com/felicider/status/1257969783523299328?s=19
If you don't want to write anything nor use any of the suggested reaction images, another way is to just use emojis. I've done this myself and artists respond with emojis too. If the art is sad, adding hearts to a sad face

gets it across that you still love their work!

Since people are wondering what kind of art would warrant such aggressive memes, I can't be sure myself since it was already deleted, but I'm guessing it was sad in context because the artist does post some very melancholic comics. Either way, don't leave rude reactions...

Going to mute this now because my notifs are flooded
Nothing to personally plug other than my pinned tweet. I draw too and I think BakuTodo is neat

Okay, I'm getting DMs asking to drop the @. While I understand that you guys may want to send support, I don't want the artist to be bombarded with notifs from foreigners when they already made a new account to start fresh. But I will be messaging them personally, so don't worry!
I'll also ask their permission if they want their identity to be revealed (this is unlikely). The best thing you can do is to just demonstrate proper behavior when interacting with foreign artists (and just artists in general) from now on.

Going to attach this here too. https://twitter.com/ceallachs_/status/1275406051899252737?s=19
