My thoughts on #twitchblackout: a thread.

First, if you are participating I 100% stand with you. Secondly, I don’t know yet if I will be taking part or not.

This was a sudden decision without much planning, with little to no time to get big name streamers involved that Twitch
will actually pay attention to.

One day of silence, I wish it would, won’t change the way Twitch works and behaves in regards to harassment and assault without effecting their income.
It will always come down to the money for major corporations, we need to make them less a loss
*see a loss

for them to pay attention and actually instigate change.

This needs to be a rolling event, a constant, especially from the more privileged streamers. There needs to be continued signing of petitions, letters, and ally-ship among creators.
I strongly believe in a constant active voice, over a day of silence. I want this blackout to effect Twitch.

Speaking on “short notice”, this is planned for a day when Twitch will see an influx of Mixer streamers moving over, and a MtG special event. We need big names.
I truly hope that the ones who hold the power to make @Twitch notice, do their part and participate so this can be effective. I would love to hear some stand up and let us know.

If you need to stream, may I suggest you take time to point out what is going on in streaming environment and culture. Talk to your communities and hold them accountable as well, educate them on proper behaviour and believing victims. Make the stream about change. #twitchblackout
