So myself and some other students made a petition on Nextdoor (an app used by parents in our community) to increase diversity within our school districts - encouraging parents to stop donations to the district until our demands were met. These are the responses I got...
Background: the intitiative was to hire more Black, Brown, and Indigenous faculty, and to reopen interdistrict transfers so more students in neighboring communities in Oakland, Alameda, etc could attend school at any Acalanes Union High School District institution.
This was in response to a video going viral showing students enrolled at Campolindo HS repeatedly saying the n-word and engaging in hate speech. We called for direct consequences to be taken; ie expulsion, and for transparency when it came to our school budgets
Not only were these individuals attacking my very character for bringing up the racism that permeates this particular community, but they were confirming just how rampant that racism is.
They accused me of manipulating data, and attacked my conduct - simply because I was holding them accountable for their apathy and participation in this racist institution. They asked me to place a monetary value on educating interdistrict students (read Black and Brown students)
“What does each transfer student cost?” as if human children are transactional. commodified goods.
anyways, i just wanted anyone from LAMO to see just how deeply entrenched racism and classism is in our communities. regardless of how “progressive” our district may be, it is abundantly clear that is all a facade
and if you know any of these fuckers, let em know they aint shit
my post also got deleted bc someone reported it so i had to repost it lmao. anyway in conclusion, rich white boomers are fucking evil and thats that on that
