I have a hill to die on real quick: Bisexuality has always meant “attracted to two or more genders” and to say that bisexuality is transphobic is actually very biphobic and an insult to generations of bi activists (1/?)

Bi activists have always had to deal with shit not only from the cishet community but also from the community we are supposed to be a part of. Not only that, but many people who say “bi means two” are othering trans people, which is a whole other can of worms (2/?)

Saying that pansexuality (or other multi attraction sexualities) is “about hearts not parts” also ties into the hypersexualization of bi people by implying that we only care about having sex with partners, not about their personalities or anything else (3/?)

Bi people don’t owe you a qualification on their sexuality. It’s never been a solely binary sexuality either, and it was the original term for having multi gender attraction. I feel like pan was born out of a misunderstanding of bisexuality and what it means (4/?)

And I’m not saying that if you identify as pan you’re biphobic. Not at all. But there are implications with all of these different terms for multi gender attraction that make me uncomfortable. It’s hard to find a concrete distinction between the two (5/?)

Which just adds to the confusion for everyone. The term “bisexual” has a long, rich history associated with it, and we often get left out of conversations in the community, either because we’re in a “straight relationship” (6/?)

or we’re just considered “gay” if we’re in a same gender relationship. Read the Bi Manifesto I’m BEGGING you, because bisexuals are here, and we are a whole sexuality, not just “half gay half straight” (7/?)

Bi people deserve better from the community we helped build. The organizer of the first Pride parade was a bisexual woman. Why don’t more people know that? (9/?)
