1. Thanks to fine work by @JesseKellyDC, we're peaking behind the curtains of power and witnessing our craven political class' penchant for avoiding the costs associated with ambitious social crusades.

It's why @FtBraggNC will be renamed, but @Yale won't.

Here's how it works..
2. @Yale University is the finishing school of our political, economic, and cultural elite, and therefore, sends the most privileged Americans to @USSupremeCourt, the C-Suite, and Hollywood...

Yale: private, exclusive, sophisticated
4. @FtBraggNC, on the other hand, is the finishing school of America's working- and middle-class. It gives blue-collar Americans a shot at college and a pathway to white-collar jobs.

Bragg: public, egalitarian, rough around the edges.
5. Whenever political elites launch an ambitious crusade-i.e. a global war on terror, racial reconciliation- they always pledge a collective sacrifice but then shift the associated costs onto Middle America.

Elites promise the moon, the Middle foots the bill.

Every single time
6. The political class today is in love with symbolic victories: low risk/high reward, and always at someone else's expense (usually Middle America's).

When they launched their failed mandatory school busing campaign, did they volunteer their neighborhoods and schools?
7. How many elites are affected by public and private hiring quotas at blue collar jobs? What about increased competition from mass immigration? How many elites saw their families and communities buckle under "reforms" from the 60's?

How many picked up a rifle after 9/11?
8. Their benevolence is always at someone else's expense, and the minute their interests are on the line, out comes the "nuance."

It's called the morality of convenience, and it dominates our political discourse today, especially when it comes to race.
9. So don't be surprised if your community or livelihood gets put on the chopping block in order to score a symbolic victory for some feckless suit who doesn't give a hot damn about their own cause.

We have to make "progress" somehow, might as well be entirely at your expense.
10. ADDENDUM: I’m a proud graduate of the Fort Bragg School of Hard Knocks... Now and forever
