Digital platforms are being asked to show numbers, numbers, numbers. How many likes, follows, pageviews, users etc. I& #39;ve been told a zillion times - increase content on the site. Put out more short stories. More videos. Something. Anything. (2/n)
Some platforms aggregate news. Some simply translate stories from regional language dailies & put it up as their own. Others dump opinion & outrage by the ton. That& #39;s their style. No criticism. But @thelede_in will NOT do it. Why? (3/n)
We are journalists, that& #39;s why. Journalism takes time. It takes effort. It takes triple verification from independent sources. It takes boots on the ground. It takes conversations with multiple stakeholders. It takes integrity. (4/n)
We pride ourselves on all that. So there will be days when we may not publish a single article - because it& #39;s work in progress. There will be days when we publish just one report. And that& #39;s okay. Every single report we put out will have our stamp of credibility. (5/n)
