In this reference to the confederate flag... I remember taking my then kindergarten son through the backwoods of Tennessee and we came to this town. Son said, “Daddy, I don’t think we are in America anymore.” I said why do you say that as I’m concentrating on my driving
My son said “all of the flags are different.” Town square was littered with Confederate flags. I laughed it off at first then thought it was a good time to talk. So we spent the rest of the drive discussing as much as you can with a 6 year old about hate and the wrongs of slavery
I’ve been a Southerner my whole life. My parents are southerners and their parents before them...But I have never supported the Confederate flag nor have I ever seen at as a symbol of Southern pride. I’ve never seen anyone in my family support it.
It is a symbol of hate and a losing side of a terrible war. We should all be allowed to express ourselves in America but I’m a little confused how someone can be so adamant about protecting the US flag in todays’s climate while also proudly flying the Confederate flag..
It doesn’t matter what color you are or where your parents are from. If you are a Southerner at ❤️ you are still better than everybody else in the rest of the country! Just pick a different symbol to unite under. I’m thinking an SEC logo banner or a picture of biscuits and gravy
