A brief meditation on tweets like this. When someone says "You should leave off 'I wasn't his biggest fan'," my thought is: Write your own goddamn tweets and don't try to micro-manage anyone else's. But there's another aspect to this. /1 https://twitter.com/spanedda/status/1275236431787589639
When someone writes, as @GenMhayden did, in defense of a political leader they had disagreements with, it's important signposting. It means: "This matters, because I would be willing to criticize this leader on any number of other things." That's important to know. /2
For one thing, it's a way of saying: "This issue is important to me on its merits, and not just because I am some leader's fanboy." It also matters because it's a way of saying that people who have other disagreements can agree on some pretty big things. /3
So when someone says "I wasn't Obama's [or anyone else's] biggest fan," maybe resist the urge to tell someone who is MOSTLY agreeing with you that they must COMPLETELY agree with you.

Thank you for coming to my explanation of why you should write your own damn tweets. /4x
