In light of the Black Lives Matter movement and all that's been said about publishing, I've really been thinking about how I can use my skills and what I have to support Black authors.
I'm only assuming the same for the other big houses, which means that a lot of advertising leans on the authors themselves since there's no way that every new book can be promoted equally.
As we've been hearing and recognizing, a majority of what is promoted (whether that's on their consumer websites, Instagram, etc.) are books by white authors. This means that even if a Black author gets published, less people are likely to know about it.
I've been creating ad/promo for Epic Reads and my own blog for a while now, so I want to specifically reach out to Black authors writing YA who are in need of both print and digital marketing collateral and promotional materials.
For the first five YA Black authors who send me an email at hellostoriesdesign[at]gmail[dot]com with your name, Twitter handle, the title of your book(s), and a brief description of how you hope to promote your book(s), I will design three social graphics for free!
(If, after that, you are interested in additional items, we can discuss!) Please send me a DM after you send the email so I can cross reference and confirm that it is, in fact, you who is asking and not someone pretending to be you lol 😂
For everyone else who is interested in my services, feel free to inquire at the same email address.
Note: I hope this does not come off as an attack to those who work in marketing. I see the work you all are doing, and I know you are doing the best you can with what you're given.
Readers and friends who are willing to help me out by sharing this thread, you can retweet the attached tweet and/or tag authors! Thank you in advance 💛 https://twitter.com/amarisafloria/status/1275231028370497537?s=20
Last thing! Authors, I am offering my services to create marketing materials for your book(s). This is not an opportunity to ask me to read your book and review it on my blog. At this time, I am not receiving those types of requests.
(If you are a publisher, however, that is a different story. Please hit me up, especially if you are promoting Asian authors!!!) 😅
