Long rant...For two years I’ve tried unsuccessfully to land a consistent teaching job at most all performing arts colleges in London. I’m not one to blame (normally) ....so I am always thinking 🤔”hmmmmm, there has to be some way to achieve the object of my desire....
Desire = I love contributing and teaching, and I’d like to teach consistently! I say to myself “OK, How can I overcome this challenge?’ I used to think “What’s wrong with me?” I have professional concert dance credits in ballet and contemporary dance companies...
professional theatre credits in America AND the UK. I’m currently performing in the West End (before COVID) (with multiple credits as a dance Captain); major TV AND Film credits with reputable choreographers , extensive teaching experience in colleges, companies, and community
organizations in the US...I’ve won awards in the US in the past for community partnerships and education initiatives. I EVEN went back to school while performing full time in the West End, and earned a FREAKING MASTER’s DEGREE in Dance Pedagogy while understudying 5 leading role
s (as a dance captain) in a 4 time Olivier Award winning musical....because I thought “Do they feel I lack experience?” But for most places I’ve consistently received “we’ll keep you in
our file.” or “you’re not what we’re looking for at the moment?” HOW CAN I NOT BE????
Oh, I don’t have WHITE SKIN? - I know that’s going to ruffle some feathers, but MATCH MY professional pErforming experience, professional teaching EXPERIENCE, proven leadership, backed by higher EDUCATION to the WHITE instructors you grab up off the merit of a show!!!
That’s not to diminish anyone, but to say - If you have black students -YOU NEED BLACK TEACHERS - and they deserve for you to have a chat with me! And if you are an institution of HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE UK with no black teachers, then step it up, because your hashtags mean 💩
