I feel like I’m the only person terrified that a suicide-by-hanging contagion is hitting our people

Im screaming inside and I want to cry

I know folks assume lynching but I also know people aren’t reading thoroughly or respecting families and their wishes

They keep saying one man was Black when he was actually white

They keep saying one teen is suspicious when the video clearly shows him taking his own life

People are really possibly ignoring something very very serious

And it hurts
As a survivor it hurts
As a former MH professional it hurts
As a Black liberation fighter it hurts

When I posted on IG I got SEVERAL DMs from people who said they’ve been hurt and triggered by the “Black people don’t hang themselves from trees” meme because they lost someone that way. Someone Black.

Like...cmon y’all.

Every situation needs to be investigated but as @VilissaThompson has also pointed out, the ableism and lack of range among many activists is harmful to disabled, suffering Black people. Not an ounce of humanity extended to people all to peddle a narrative that suits your agenda
