last year 34.4% of our on campus #ASUHumanities majors came from under represented minority groups (Black, Latinx, indigenous)

how do we enable them to build a better future for the humanities, one in which their lives are central, valued?

you'll see some rumination on this topic by Ayanna Thompson and me in the next issue of postmedieval but I can say in advance that what needs to go is the Country Club model of the humanities in favor of a boisterous commons and proliferations of hearths tables refuges

the Country Club model steers those who would engender a more capacious Humanities future into places where they might feel "more comfortable"

I am confident that the future of the Humanities is bright provided that future is (like the past!) more polyglot manifold multicultural diverse heterogeneous lively riotous vibrant unruly challenging creative humane than has hitherto been in the mainstream envalued and allowed
