If the Black people who hired don’t have diversity, inclusion, anti-racism on their agenda. If they don’t mind being tokenized. If they don’t mind keeping their head down and just doing their jobs. If they don’t call out problems that arise in their workplace.
There are plenty of Black people comfortable not saying anything and fighting for what’s right. They put a smile on their face and speak highly of their company, despite probably experiencing some form of racism everyday at their workplace.
These are the Black people companies are hiring and we’re just so happy for some diversity and inclusion that we don’t question it. We don’t question who these people are? their character? if they got the backbone to do what’s right. We’re just so happy it’s a Black person.
Companies aren’t hiring Black men and women who are gonna make them think, reflect, and make changes - b/c we’re ‘angry, combative, and disruptive.’ No, they hire the ‘peace-keepers’
We can celebrate diversity and inclusion in workplace but we also need to be weary of who’s being hired to bring ‘diversity and inclusion’
