I honestly can't get over the idea that things could go *sort of* be OK if people would just wear masks, allowing us all freedom and access to our jobs. Instead, dumb folks think it's a violation of their rights of instead of what it is: helping society operate without fear.
"you can't tell me what to do!" is not freedom in a society. In a society you necessarily give up some comfort for the greater good, and a mask is the *literal easiest* thing you could do.
Do you want to go back to work? ME TOO. Do you want to go just touch things in Target because you're bored? SO DO I. And you know what would help us all live our lives faster? Your fkn mask. Put it on. We aren't violating your rights, you are violating ours.
I taught the social contract theory to 14 yr old debate students and they were able to articulate clearly and confidently what the common good was and offer examples of how they compromised their self interest for that good. It's baffling to me that grown adults can't do the same
You aren't living in the state of nature. You aren't living alone. You live here - with other people - in a society that cannot function unless we can all function. Sometimes, you do things to be a responsible member of society and only for that reason. Anyway, done.
