Trump's election is the biggest example of this, and that is why I still consider it a net success. Trump was a wannabe elite who felt like a cultural outsider among New York's wealthy. He knew how the game was played and selfishly decided to cheat in order to increase his status

He appealed to what normal white people actually wanted, something he and all elites know is against the rules. He made immigration okay to talk about. And he knew never to say the magic words that all naughty candidates are tricked into saying to get them out ("I apologize").

In 2016 I saw him as a 90s liberal waking up from cryogenic hibernation and just not getting it, but it is clear in hindsight he made a conscious decision to use the forbidden Hitlerian art of appealing to what people want to get elected. He never mistook populism for Democracy™

If the system was maximally intelligent and completely dispassionate, it would have let him have his revolution, it would have let Trump supporters be the winners, and many of us would have been deradicalized.

On November 9th, 2016 and absolutely no later, every journalist should have gotten a memo stating that Trump is to be covered from now on as a normal person, and not as the second coming of Hitler, and that all Maddowism is to be strictly punished.

But the system could not forgive Trump for cheating at Our Democracy™, so it made up a conspiracy theory where he cheated the written rules and persecuted him for that. Nor could it stomach the thought of having to treat bitterly clinging kulaks as human beings.

The system went full bore in treating Trump as a Code Hitler (expect a narrative about the Mexican Holocaust in the future that it will be illegal to deny) while simultaneously coopting him into a pathetic zionist stooge at max power.

I am not saying the system should have let him have half-wins to make boomers think they were winning; that is uncontroversial at this point. I am saying they should have let this guy more liberal than 2008 Joe Biden have TOTAL VICTORY.

Remember, liberalism is not grassroots. The media could have made liberals think ANYTHING after the election, and they chose this.

So many of us would have been fooled if they decided to coopt a genuinely potent nationalism. We would have no proof to confirm the niggling suspicion at the bottom of our minds that something was still wrong.

Make us think we were crazy for imagining there could ever be such a thing as a slippery slope, or that the culture only ever seems to move in one direction. No zoomer is going to grow up thinking that there is a political "pendulum."

The period of less than a decade between 2008 and 2016 marked an utterly unprecedented social change. What followed should have been a period of normalization under conservative leadership, disguised as a "return to normalcy."

Just as the real purpose of the Reagan Revolution was to normalize the profound changes that had rocked society in the 60s and 70s, reversing none of them. Conservative "victories," have always played a role in our long slouch towards Gomorrah, and that is practically gone now.

In 2020, we witness the conservative half of the dialectic snapping in two, with a hideous crunching sound. It seems they have no choice but to keep accelerating forward, relying on brute force of censorship to stop genuinely right-wing ideas from spreading.

I can't say how it will end. Probably with castrated whites peacefully being herded into the streets for genocide within our lifetimes. Maybe not. But either way, there will be fire.
