this tweet is actually valid. it’s actually difficult to find the proper research websites for all the literary authors that both exist in real life and in fiction. i actually suffered through this a lot because i’ve been looking up articles and papers on no longer human lately + https://twitter.com/deady_bones/status/1274956032301654019
since it seemed like a good work to read by osamu dazai. i’ve been also looking for the setting sun, but my search has been pretty dry because of all the bsd fandom stuff :’)))
however, the replies to this are questionable. it’s understandable to dislike a fictional character for any predetermined reason, but i guess it kind of hurts to see people say that asagiri’s characters butchered the real life authors?
the bsd universe is actually pretty interesting with all its diverse characters and backstories, and asagiri did well to create a manga/anime series that caught the eye of lots of readers/watchers.

the characters are all based off the real authors, and each character happens
to be based off the real authors’ works. of course, there may be inaccuracies since each character needs to fit in the whole mafia/supernatural aspect of bsd, but to say that the bsd characters (which indirectly accuses asagiri) ruined the name of the popular irl authors is ://
by the way how people are reacting to the tweet with replies dissing bsd, i’m guessing that asagiri actually received hate like this as well.
i’m not accusing anyone with this thread, but i’m just expressing my frustration with how people are lowering their expectations for a series that actually increased the interest for many fans to explore all these literary authors (including myself).
yes, it’s a pain to skim through a google search page to see amino posts, fandom wikis, anime photos instead of portraits, and etc., but please don’t criticize asagiri’s work :(
