1. Scheduling night scenes in the summer w child actors is damn near impossible* with labor law restrictions. If you need these make sure you schedule your shoot for when the sun doesn't set at 9pm. Or get ready to film a lot of day for night (no me gusta). 
2. If you're going to crowdfund, make sure you are ready to spend the funds in the same year. If you crowdfund in November and shoot the following spring, you WILL lost a chunk of that money to taxes.

3. Dressing your character in similar clothes throughout the story can turn into a continuity nightmare. (ie: shirts in slightly different fits and shades of gray) give them range for your own damn good. 
4. The film festival circuit is less like filling out forms/applications and more like campaigning for office. 
5. For the love of all things, don't wing your trash/ recycling plan. You need to know where the hell it's all going at the end of the night. And sets produce a lot of waste that with a little care can be reduced. 
6. In-kind catering = community building. We had all of our meals sponsored by local restaurants and a lot of the owners/managers ended up being extras on set and some of our greatest champions. (Have @ElenaWeinberg to thank for that learn! Check out her film @ARFONmovie)
7. The more space you give everyone to work on their craft, the better your film will be. Every department is its own art form. 
8. Never negotiate a producer credit - or anyother credit -for a person that didn't do the job. People who help financially get Exec P credit. People who help with bits of production can get Associate P credit. Producing is a hard ass job. That shits gotta be EARNED.
9. When you are picking your core team, remember you are picking who you are spending the next three years with. (I love you @bayrootee
