Okay so here we go.
First of all, big Big BIG shoutout to aaaallllll the many businesses we see everyday on the TL being run by our friends and other young people! We see you and although sometimes it feels like you have to beg us for retweets and shares, 1/n https://twitter.com/BUILDerclass/status/1274462790892294145

your hustle is still very valid. Please, by all means, continue working diligently, seeking help when you need it, and shooting shots because the worst you can get, is a no. Now to everybody, here is why you should share your friends work, business, stories etc. anywhere 2/n
(as long as it’s not going against your personal beliefs or values). I promised I will put it in a wide context that would seem like a reach so if you find yourself asking “where is this going?” please #dontleaveme. I’m building up to the point so let’s go! 3/n
1. your timeline is most likely filled with people within your circles who are most likely to be your age mates, school/classmates and even friends you met and made online. Statistically (I'll cite sources at the end of the thread), young people hire other young people 4/n
I read this in @anzishaprize prize’s last report and i suggest you check them out to understand why I deem them a credible source. Now, I would use myself as a case study just so that I don’t have to use another person’s personal story without their permission. 5/n
Whenever I am working on a project, as a 21 year old, I tend to hire or contract other young people to do various tasks for me. For a 5-month project, I hired 3 young people under 26 and contracted about 15 other people between the ages of 16 and 30. 6/n
If you are a young developer or graphic designer for example, just think about how many times you have done for, or worked with a fellow young person. If you sell a service or product, think about how often your clients are not 20 years older than you lol. 7/n
Point being, young people are much more likely to hire young people. So by supporting your friends by either buying, selling or sharing their products and services, you are contributing to the success of their business, which when successful, would be able to upscale and... 8/n
hire more talent, which will be made up of mostly young people. But now, why do we even care about hiring young people? Let’s go on. If you’re still reading at this point, it means you would vibe with this account so please, pause and follow. FOLLOW OH! 9/n
2. your timeline most likely has SOMEONE, who knows another SOMEONE or SOMETHING. When I say someone, I do not mean a rich or wealthy person. I think anybody can be the SOMEONE. Okay. Currently, global youth unemployment rates have risen rapidly and are... 10/n
...currently sitting at 13.1%, which is three times higher than the unemployment rate for adults (4.3%). With the projected increase in African youth population and now COVID-19, we can only expect this figure to increase. Okay and so what? By sharing, retweeting, or... 11/n
...even selling your friend’s hustle, you just may be putting your friend before the SOMEONE or SOMETHING that could be the life-turning point of their hustle. A diligent business owner that gets the right attention could very easily ‘blow’. Again, young business owners...12/n
... hire other young people. The youth unemployment has already started catching us so it’s not difficult to imagine. Yes, not everyone is built to start enterprises, but there is definitely a role we can aaaaallllll play in enterprises, no matter how big or small. 13/n
A retweet today, could be you re-securing the bag tomorrow.
3. Yes, sometimes we look at new businesses online and think, “NOT ANOTHER ONE!”. I think it. Always. Yes, the new ones started by younger people have higher chance of ‘failing’. But , we do not know right now... 14/n

... for sure, which ones are marked for success. And if it succeeds, they’re going to hire mostly us, their young friends. Once it’s not a product or service you abhor and would not wish for your worst enemy to use, by all means, support it with your shares. 15/n
IF YOU HAVE MADE IT TO THE END OF THIS THREAD, YOU DON'T HAVE REASONS TO SCROLL PAST BUSINESSES ON YOUR TIMELINE ON HERE OR EVEN ON IG! I will try my very best henceforth to share as much as I can on here. And again, if you made to this part of the thread, you should be following
My main source was the Very Young Entrepeneur Scenario report compiled by @anzishaprize over the last 10 years. I followed other sources they cited and then went to read them as well but most can be found on their website. Thanks for reading and see you next time!!
And always remember, that your purchase, share, retweet or even sell, is not just about you. It's bigger than you. You are playing the role that you can in creating an ecosystem that would employ us in 2-3 years. It's not that far fetched.
