This looks like brown fragility to me, @AOC. Tut. https://twitter.com/tomselliott/status/1275149336884756483
Listen, @AOC, I know you're a Congresswoman and a progressive and workin' it and think you're a senator or something, but you can't just go and claim a lived experience you can't possibly have. That's WAY not okay. You're going to get cancelled if you're not way more careful.
Hell, @AOC, I'm white and I know that. What's up with you? Do you think being brown just gives you the keys to the castle? No, no, no. You need to stay in your lane, listen and learn, and do better. Your brown fragility is showing, and that makes you complicit in white supremacy.
Don't try to deny your brown fragility, @AOC. That's a mistake. That would just prove you have it. And don't get defensive, don't get upset, don't try to avoid the accusation. If you don't reply to my tweets, in fact, it's just proof of your brown fragility. Do better.
It's very obvious now @AOC that you are complicit in upholding white supremacy, which isn't a surprise since you work in the white supremacist government of the white supremacist United States. You need to reflect on this more. Forward other voices, not your own.
You really need to apologize for this, @AOC. Apologize fully knowing your apology won't be sufficient. It will leave out the magnitude of your error. It will position you as a good brown and even more white-adjacent. That's uncomfortable. It's supposed to be.
The way you can start learning to confront your brown privilege @AOC is to become uncomfortable. You need to listen and learn in your discomfort. You need to see how your discomfort can be your guide to self-reflection, self-critique, and a real anti-racism practice.
