1) Check the Visa Requirements
As American’s we don’t think about visa issues.
However, if you need a visa - you’ll be denied entry.
So google it before you book it. Here’s what to search for:

2) Get Your Money Sorted
For me, I always get US dollars out before leaving.
Once I’m in the new country, I exchange them for the local currency.
Luckily - MOST countries accept debit cards.

3) Notify Your Bank!
You don’t wanna be in a new country without access to your money bags.
So when you’re traveling abroad ALWAYS notify your bank.

4) Get a SIM Card at the Airport
Everytime I land in a new country, the first thing I do is get a SIM.
B/c you don’t wanna be a loser stuck in a new country without wifi.
So pay $25-$50 for a new SIM/data and you’re set.

5) How to get around
I’ve only used a taxi in Dubai. Everywhere else they’ll rip you off.
The solution is to only use Uber/Bolt. As they can’t rip you off.
Plus they’re usually much nicer.

6) Travelling Builds Connections
Travelling internationally forces you to meet new people.
Before you know it, you’ll have an international network
Example:
I’ve got people I know in every country I’ve been to. Low level government, local shop owners, Airbnb hosts.

7) You’ll be forced to face yourself
I’m not some fly to Thailand and be a hippie guy. However, when you’re out in the world alone.
You’ve got nobody to depend on but yourself.
If you’ve got any weaknesses?
You’ll either fix them real quick or pack your bags and go home.

8) Pack Light
When I travel, I only have my money bag and book bag.
There’s ZERO reason to have a suitcase as you can wash your clothes or buy new ones.

9) Take Care of Yourself
Traveling internationally is stressful at first until you get used to it.
So hit the barbershop, grab a cigar, and lift some weights.

10) Never Stay in a Hostel
I stayed in a hostel for 1 night while waiting for a flight once.
Will never do it again.
Always get you an Airbnb for long term stays and a hotel is fine for short term.
