okay, since a few people asked me what my headcanon was, here’s a small thread https://twitter.com/sapphloef/status/1275116611075268608
okay, this is about catra’s reaction to adora’s behavior, after adora’s “did you just jump into fire for me?”. some people said that catra was shy, but i like to think that there was a little bit more than that (because i love crying)
something recurrent in the show is adora “mocking” catra for “liking her”. her remarking catra’s love for her. i find these moments when adora goes “owww i can’t believe you like me!!” very funny, but OH GOD in catra’s pov, these are just a punch in the stomach
what adora doesn’t- well, didn’t know is that catra really liked her, that she really loved her. adora costantly jokingly mocking catra’s love demonstrations is probably one of the countless reasons why catra thought her friend didn’t feel the same about her
i think catra treasures with sadness and anger adora’s “i can’t believe you like me, that’s so embarrassing of you!”. this time catra literally jumped into fire for adora, just to hear adora making fun of her once again
BEFORE I FINISH THIS THREAD I WANT TO SAY THAT I AM, NO WAY, SAYING ADORA IS A BAD PERSON FOR THIS. IT’S HER COPING MECHANISM AND SHE DIDN’T KNOW CATRA REALLY LOVED HER
everytime catra does something, as adora said, embarrassing, for the girl she loves, she feels bad, and probably thinks it’s really embarrassing to love adora like that. the fact that she’s been manipulated into thinking that emotions made her weak didn’t help
last thing to cry a little bit more, i don’t know if it’s an headcanon of mine or just a common knowledge but catra, after the love confession, thought that adora was about to mock her again. like she didn’t take that “you love me?” as “OGMDKSJDJ YOU LOVE ME?????”, but as-
-a “oh my goood, i can’t believe you love me! so i was right when i said you liked me”. have a nice day!
