im gonna share with you guys some of my favorite puertorican slang. some of them are curse words and other not but yeah. hope you have fun, learn something and use some of them lol
before we start you need to know that in our vocabulary we have a lot of spanglish and mixed words so some of them may sound similar to you or maybe you had already heard about it
1. ยก ๐™–๐™ฎ ๐™—๐™š๐™ฃ๐™™๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ค! : we use this one to express all kind of emotions from happiness, surprise or sadness. the tone you use will dictate how itโ€™s interpreted, similar to how you would say โ€œoh my godโ€ in english.
2. ๐™–๐™ก ๐™œ๐™–๐™ง๐™š๐™ฉ๐™š : we use this term to describe a really fun and crazy moment or to describe a crazy person "oh geez, yo estoy bien al garete" or "the party last night estaba bien al garete"
3. ๐™ข๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ค : this comes from the word "hermano" which means brother , is the shortest version of it and we use it a lot. also puerto rico is known for cuting the words so sometimes we dont pronounced the whole word, like this one :) we're weird i know
4. ๐™Ÿ๐™–๐™ง๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง๐™–: you know when you eat a lot of food and you feel that ur about to explode and that you can barely breath; thats what we call a "jartera" and personaly use it a lot lmao. i'll be like " diablo mano, que jartera tengo"
5. ๐™—๐™ง๐™ช๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ก: in english this is a bad thing but for us puertoricans we use it to describe something beyond awesome. i'll be like "es que sean baila demasiao' brutal"
6. ๐™—๐™ค๐™˜๐™๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™๐™š: another word we use for gossip
7. ๐™š๐™ข๐™—๐™ช๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™š: this one means lie and the persons who says the "embuste" we call them "embustero/a"
8. ๐™›รณ: this it's a puertorican slang for something that smells really bad, and must always be accompanied by a gesture or look of disgust on the face, or it wonโ€™t work :)
9. ๐™ฅ๐™š๐™ง๐™ง๐™š๐™ค/๐™ฅ๐™š๐™ง๐™ง๐™š๐™–๐™ง: as you may know reggaeton comes from puerto rico and youโ€™ve probably heard it in some current songs. perreo is dancing like a madman, without stopping. dance very fierce. but, now, itโ€™s actually some kind of dirty dancing ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜‚
10. ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข๐™š ๐™ข๐™ž๐™š๐™ง๐™™๐™–: in puerto rico, this expression is used to talk about someone very arrogant with an unfriendly character and yes again, i use this one a lot. is one of my favorites
11. ๐™˜๐™รฉ๐™ซ๐™š๐™ง๐™š: this one is our version of the word cool . we'll be like "ay mira, que chรฉvere quedo eso"
12. ยก๐™š๐™– ๐™™๐™ž๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™š! or ยก๐™š๐™– ๐™ง๐™–๐™ฎ๐™ค!: is an exclamation for exitement or to express how amazed you are by something or someone. or to express how worried you are by an event or instant action
13. ๐™ฌ๐™š๐™ฅ๐™–: we use this one for a lot of things but mainly it is yelled to express joy and utter happiness.we will yell it nasally and hold the โ€œeโ€ and โ€œaโ€ for a long time. sometimes we will meet with someone at a random place and yell "weepaa, how's everything going?" and hug
14. ๐™Ÿ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™ช๐™ž๐™–๐™ง/ ๐™Ÿ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™ช๐™š๐™ค: this is the spanglish version of hang out and yeah, is a word that you will hear a lot in puerto rico cause we like parties lol
15. ๐™–๐™˜๐™๐™ค / ๐™˜๐™๐™–๐™˜๐™๐™ค: this are contractions of the spanish word โ€œmuchachoโ€ which means โ€œboyโ€. they are also used as fillers between thoughts and sentences when we speak. itโ€™s similar to โ€œwellโ€ in english.
16. ๐™˜๐™๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™–: may refer to the country "china", a female from or of chinese descent. but also itrefers to the fruit "orange".
17. ๐™œ๐™ง๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™ค: we use this to refer to the tourist from usa or white people.
18. ๐™๐™–๐™˜๐™š๐™ง๐™จ๐™š ๐™š๐™ก ๐™ก๐™ค๐™˜๐™ค: if we're going to translate this it would be something like trying to pass off as crazy, it means to try to ignore or distance oneself from a particular situation, just like sean rn by not posting the side by side video with kaycee ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚ jk
19. ๐™ข๐™–๐™จ ๐™ก๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ค ๐™ฆ๐™ช๐™š ๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™– ๐™˜๐™–๐™ง๐™–๐™ซ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™– ๐™™๐™š ๐™˜๐™ค๐™Ÿ๐™ค๐™จ: phrase we use to describe slow walkers ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜‚
20. ๐™ข๐™ž๐™ง๐™–: equivalent to "hey" but literally means look. do not use it to say hi because it doesn't work that way, please.
21. รฑ๐™ครฑ๐™– ๐™š๐™จ: definetly one i use a lot and it means no way. dont mind me, i just like the letter "รฑ" .
22.ยฟ๐™ค๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™š๐™?/ยฟ๐™ค๐™ž๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™š?: this means; did you hear me? the right way to say it is with the letter "s" (the second one) but sometimes we dont pronounced the letter "s" (like the first one)
23. ๐™ฅ๐™ค๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™š๐™–๐™š๐™ง๐™–: another spanglish word and means to be pumped up
๐™ฅ๐™ช๐™š๐™ง๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ž๐™˜๐™–๐™ฃ ๐™˜๐™ช๐™ง๐™จ๐™š ๐™ฌ๐™ค๐™ง๐™™๐™จ ;)
1. ๐™˜๐™–๐™—๐™งรณ๐™ฃ: for a Latino, a โ€œcabrรณnโ€ is a man who knows that his wife is cheating on him, without defending it in order to keep his woman. depending on the situation, here in puerto rico the word โ€œcabrรณnโ€ can be used in a friendly or offensive way, just as dumbass in english
2. ๐™ก๐™–๐™ข๐™—รณ๐™ฃ: is the synonymous of โ€œlameculosโ€ = toady, bootlicker. โ€œlambรณnโ€ is exclusive from puerto rico since it is not usually heard in other countries. a person who you should not trust, adulatory and treacherous; a bootlicker.
3. ๐™จ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ค/๐™จ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™–: person who is promiscuous, someone who constantly proposes to have sex with others or that does it with multiple partners
4.๐™ฅ๐™ชรฑ๐™š๐™ฉ๐™–: (one of my favourites) this word is used as an expression of anger or frustration and puertoricans are not afraid to say it out loud, it doesnt matter where they are. you can also identify a puertorican in other country just by screaming "puรฑeta", i have proof lol
5. ๐™˜๐™ค๐™Ÿ๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™š๐™จ: it is used to award courage and bravery to a person or, in an ironic tone, to complain about someone elseโ€™s unfair action.
and yeah, theres a lot more words and phrases but this are the ones that i normally use lmao. hope you like it and if you need help with the pronounciation of a word dm me or ask me and i will help/ send you a video
