My nan's 1st job on arrival to Eng @ 15 was in a battery factory where not every1 was given a stool to sit on 2 wrk. A wyt woman told my nan to give up her stool coz she's black. When nan refused, the woman slapped her, so my nan beat her down with the stool. #HappyWindrushDay

Story #2: nan was the 1st black woman to live on a new council est. In Wolverhampton, a neighbour put together a petition to have her kicked out. She knocked on every single door on the estate & told every1 to sign it so she could file a law suit on them. She won the case.

Story #3: my blind aunt was refused entry to local state school so nan camped outside council office, wrote to local MP & newspapers & they eventually caved & accepted my aunt 2 the school. There's now a dept for blind n VI students at the school since 70's. #WindrushDay
