Let me thread this. https://twitter.com/WasgoodChichi/status/1275053616462733314
6 years ago I dropped out of U.B. I was doing a business management course and I was miserable. Not coz I was incapable, i got 46 points for my BGCSE. I just used to panic when I imagined myself doing a desk job.
Not that desk jobs are lesser. People who work desk jobs sign off my checks. I just saw my mom, who was an artist, suffer through being a lawyer because her parents made her do it. They meant well, but she was miserable. Her words: Ke direla lona.
I swore that would never be me. I FD'd twice, actually. The first time ne okare my parents ga ba nkutlwe sentle. The second time i deliberately didnt show up for exams. I mean, now that Im older i definitely see how irrational that was. But it eez what it eez.
Second time round I applied for film schools everywhere. As in EVERYWHERE. UK, S.A, AMERICA, TURKEY! I won several partial scholarships coz of my BGSCE results but there was always a reason my parents couldnt commit to the rest. I gave in and registered for CIMA.
Got admitted to CIMA with exemptions then I see on the news gotwe AFDA is coming to Botswana. Mind you I already had an admission letter from AFDA joburg in my mail just sitting.
Kare jaanong modimo a reng? I transfer my admission to BW. Inside.
In my second year at AFDAI started feeling like a fossil. How can i graduate ke le 26 with no experience. I started working while attending school full time. 😭 Anyone who knows me knows I love to sleep. I got no sleep.
At 24 I was shooting Colours (the tv show) and attending class. Ke kgona go chaisa from overnight sets ka 6am and go attend class at 9am 😭
All coz I had this guilt ya gore i messed up my first degree.
By 25 I started feeling like "No man. I cant keep calling myself an aspiring film maker. Masimba. I need to be it."

So I started shooting my own projects and collaborating. Initially I called my baby 27 Studios (CIPA rejected this).
This is when I shot Thanya and became part of the crew that shot Gobe. The first time i got checks for independent work. Cost free trips re ya Durban for awards. Our films were screening in California dude.
This is when I realised to look past Botswana borders. Look past the hype. 1 2 1 2 I graduate and immediately I move to Zambia through Multichoice for what? For film? Dreams man.
27 Pictures was only supposed to be born after I finished with the Multichoice Talent Factory but as COVID19 would have it, the time is now.

Manifestations of Manifestations.

I wont be here once the world is cleansed.
