It's so amazing how Joe Biden can say absolutely nothing... completely devoid of meaning, and yet, a large number of people manage to agree with it. It seems that it's very easy to get people to agree with nothing.
For instance, take his "We're in a battle for the soul of this nation" line...

That essentially means nothing. What IS the soul of our nation? Is it freedom? If so, why? Is it because it's what our nation was founded on? If so, should we get rid of taxes? If not, why?
Another thing, if the soul of this nation is freedom, Mr. Patriot Act over here shouldn't be talking about leading a fight for the soul of this nation. Our founding fathers, specifically George Washington was against interventionism. So, that should be included in the soul of...
...this nation. Because, going along with this logic, it was what our country was founded on. Anti-imperialism. So, isn't it ironic that Mr. Iraq War over here is talking about the soul of our nation. But, to him...these things really aren't the soul of this nation.
That is the problem with even the phrase. It's SO vague that it can be whatever you want. The CSA thought the soul of this nation was the preservation of slavery. I would at least like to think that Biden disagrees with that... but, with him, you never know...
The phrase "we're in a battle for the soul of this nation" is so easy to use, that we've essentially been saying that for decades. This battle has been going on a long time. It's almost as if it doesn't mean anything. Yet, people agree with it. It's really fascinating.
I don't know if this thread made sense...it went in all kinds of directions... I just can't stand when Biden and the rest of them just vomit cliches that don't really mean anything... It's so condescending.
