when I made the transition from standup to filmmaker, starting by going to arguably the best film school in the world & making a feature film on my own, I was hoping that the comedy world would actually see that
and ya know
hire me
as my younger male peers rose up around me

I now see the formula that's more successful for female directors is to come up as an actress first bc people can wrap their heads around women doing that
but not to take a decade learning the craft

I'll delete this thread bc it's negative
and of course it's also my fault that I'm not farther along as well
and I believe I'll still get where I'm going
but you can gaze upon these feelings for a bit before deletion if you so choose
