I know and love some very good cops. The system fails them, too. The system takes their lives. If you truly feel that blue lives matter, I urge you to fight for a system that supports and creates good cops, rather than a system that creates the bad apples spoiling the barrel.

If you truly feel that blue lives matter, defundunding and rebuilding policing is the best way to support good cops with the drive and intention to support and serve their communities.

If you truly believe that blue lives matter, recognize that they are asked to do too much and simply cannot fix every problem they are tasked with. Reallocate those positions to professionals who can increase public safety. Make cops lives safer and easier.

And if in the process of all of that fewer people die, both police & civilian alike, schools & healthcare & housing and & SUD support are better funded, communities heal & become safer, don’t we all win? If your loved one is a cop wouldn’t that be a better world for them too?
