a thread of people who have sexualized ao dai (traditional vietnamese dress) and how it should actually be worn: https://twitter.com/manal_nala/status/1274480957404438528
how it should actually be worn:
notice how they actually wear pants underneath? notice how they are wearing under garments?

wearing ao dai is an important part in vietnamese culture and history. we wear ao dai to weddings, in vietnam girls wear ao dai to school, they are worn to graduations +
ao dai has been worn by vietnamese people for hundreds of years, and to see it be warped, sexualized, and fetished like this is disgusting and it makes me sick.

and you know what hurts even more? vietnamese women sexualizing THEIR OWN CULTURE AND TRADITIONS.
and ofc it IS okay for others to wear the ao dai, just please do it correctly, if you are going to wear it because you want to be “sexy”, dont. please, i am begging you.

please learn how to appreciate and appropriate our culture.. or any culture at all.

please
