#Alert #FakeNews A fake letter attributed to Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff is circulating online [Thread]
Origin: Prominent Indian disinformation account 'FrontalAssault1' first posted this letter online on 22 June 2020 @ 5:17pm GMT. Archived copy: http://archive.vn/X0NqV
We will use the copy of an actual (past) letter from COAS to former Chairman PCB as a reference to dissect the fake letter (see http://archive.vn/GWbMb )
Observation 1: The fake letter does not include the prefix "My" used to courteously address the recipient.
Observation 2: The letter does not mention city name underneath the name and designation of the recipient.
Observation 3: The sender's signature at bottom-right is unusually small.
Observation 4: The 'dot' on 'Sahib' is missing in the fake letter.
Observation 5: The fake letter has sender's details written in Calibri font on top-right, it is usually written in Arial.
Observation 6: The fake letter does not have any opening statement and concluding para, which is a norm/ standard exercise in official communications across the Government of Pakistan and, for that matter, the world.
Observation 7: The fake letter directly addresses AJ&K Minister of Health. Government protocol dictates that the letter come from the Defence Minister while quoting COAS.
Examination of the fake letter's originator 'FrontalAssault1' reveals routine interaction with other known Indian propaganda accounts (marked in red).
In fact, one of the fake letter distributors (Naresh) happens to be the Treasurer of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jalandhar (Indian Punjab). PM Modi's verified account is following it. Archived copy: http://archive.vn/7ZQ71
