Why I think Denji (CSM) is a great and a severely underappreciated character ; a thread
For the people who hasn& #39;t read CSM, I& #39;m sure you have seen Denji in such.. interesting angles from the images of his flashy batshit craziness in the series, & tbh he is undeniably that, a crazy kid

but I feel that people overlook his nuance as a character , & what he represents
At a glance, Denji seems like just a dumb hyperactive horny kid that just does whatever he wants, but there& #39;s more to that

Fujimoto (author) uses these types of metaphors to mirror real life circumstances that unexpectedly resonates with a lot of people, including myself
But before that, let& #39;s establish what Denji truly is about, what makes him great

Denji is a kid who is put through one of the harshest childhood I& #39;ve seen. Getting left with his father& #39;s death before becoming an orphan, selling his organs to meet ends meet, you name it.
But despite all of that, he still finds a way, even if it& #39;s just a little spec of hope, he still finds a way to be happy even in such cruel circumstances

It even got to the point that he was already happy with just DREAMING of a good life
Reading this moment still hurts me up to this day, seeing Denji being content with such a fucked up life, and even that even his dreams of a good life is taken away from him

You just can& #39;t help but resonate with him, I& #39;m pretty sure we& #39;ve all been there in some mild extent
This is the first trait that makes Denji a great character, he has experienced living with absolutely nothing, before living with "everything"

Yes, it& #39;s not new to start from the bottom especially in SJ, but the way Fujimoto darkly twists that is what makes it more investing.
This segues perfectly to the second trait that makes Denji a great character, & it is his dreams and what he represents

Y& #39;all probably seen the famous "I wanna feel some boobs" moment from memes all over twitter, & while yes it& #39;s hilarious, the metaphors signifies something more
For quick context: Denji agrees to help Power get her cat back from a Bat Devil in exchange for a simple copping a feel of her breasts

and everybody mocked him for it, dismissing his "dream" as something so immature and idiotic, not taking life seriously at all
People dismissing somethingg because it isn& #39;t the "norm" is very much apparent irl

I bet most people& #39;s reaction of you wanting to become a lawyer, doctor, or architect would be very much different from you wanting to be an artist or a dancer
Denji represents the people who doesn& #39;t have those big dreams people love to hear off, he doesn& #39;t have the most noblest of causes, he doesn& #39;t want to be number 1

He& #39;s just a guy that came from the very bottom wanting something pleasant for once in his life
That& #39;s why he is in a way, a breath of fresh air in the Shonen Jump sphere.

Most of our beloved MCs always had big goals which is definitely fine, but seeing Denji represent the minority for once really makes me happy, because I relate to it so much.
These are the two main reasons why I love Denji as a main character.

It is not the SOLE reasons, but I don& #39;t want to bloat this thread too much and want to show the highlights of his character, the subtexts, beneath the metaphors and symbolisms.
