People in power hear complaints from millennial ethnonarcissist crybullies day in, day out, that they know have credible threats of lawsuits attached. Similar voices from right are not just absent-merely to allow their presence (eg,Cotton's NYT Op-Ed)creates more lawsuit threats.
So there's an epistemic problem in that people in power no longer hear any perspective but "One Stalin isn't enough- we need 50 more Stalins!" and probably are genuinely confused about the potential range of opinion and debate;but reason that problem exists is people fear Stalin.
If enough people expressed their views, it actually would shift the lopsided balance of power in these institutions, but the existence of the lopsided balance of power makes it incredibly costly to express your views.
This is a separate though related problem from positive feedbacks themselves producing an accelerating purity spiral of opinion, which via social media is how we got the Great Awokening in the first place.
