Can I just say this...

Asking leaders to investigate their own company's or organization's racist policies & practices is ludicrous

Here's why...

1/8
If they were aware of racist policies to begin with and wanted to create a more equitable and inclusive environment, they would have changed such policies and practices already.

2/8
If they weren't aware of their company's racist policies and practices until they have found themselves in a leadership position during one of the largest Civil Rights Movements in modern history... then their leadership is self serving and "colorblind"

3/8
If they were aware of said racist practices and policies and didn't change them... then you already know they are upholding systemic racism by their own choice

4/8
Asking leaders to NOW start investigating these policies is ridiculous because you are asking them to now uncover and expose the policies and practices they have continued to uphold, whether they are aware of it or not, and discuss the ways they have already failed many.

5/8
What good leaders CAN and SHOULD do is hire the right team of people who are able to dig into the core of their policies and practices while providing direction on how to enact change

What good leaders CAN and SHOULD do is take accountability for upholding racist systems

6/8
What good leaders CAN & SHOULD do is be an active part of the process by centering racial justice & equitable practices as a core tenet of their organization, ensuring all decisions & policies empower historically marginalized populations

7/8
And good leaders CAN and SHOULD do is not shy away from their dedication to specifically supporting Black people, especially given the current moment
