My experience going to Harry concerts has been uniformly amazing, even though I'm older and uglier than the rest of the fandom. I've gone with other friends my age and I've gone by myself. Every time I've had lovely conversations/interactions with harries
I usually dress down bc I dress for comfort, but MSG 1 I wore amazing heels. While in line for the bathroom I got compliments but more importantly, people worrying about my feet and hoping I'd be comfortable. It was really sweet! They just wanted me to dance all night (I did.)
I was so lucky to be able to go to the Radio City show: went alone but had lovely conversations with the girl sitting next to me (who'd also gone alone), and another girl at the bar pre-show. Even the ladies selling merch told me it was SO busy but everyone was polite to them!
I went with my fellow oldsters to the Chicago show: all of us were smiled at and complimented, especially my 6'5 male friend (he sat throughout bc he didn't want to block shorter fans.) Harries liked my Harry button but LOOOOVED his "I'm having your baby" button.
The girls in front of us had their arms around each other, swayed and sang one of the slower songs (I wish I could remember which one! Clearly their favorite) and my friends and I looked at each other trying not to cry, held hands. We LOVED seeing young friends share that moment.
At MSG 2 I snagged a better seat. The people in that area were more diverse: age, ethnicity, dressed up, dressed down... I saw another older fan near me with someone who looked like *her* mom! That lady only sat down for like, two seconds. She LOVED that concert
I'm old. I've been going to concerts a long time and elbowed my way into spaces where I've been made to feel I didn't belong. Other spaces too, not just music. I may not feel quite welcome in this space (idc, I do what I want) but I've always felt welcomed at his shows.
Looking forward to going back and singing loud. Maybe the younger fans in front of me will turn around, see me singing every single word, and GRIN, like what happened during MSG 1. And if you see an old lady BUSTING MOVES in the Watermelon pit in Chicago night 2? It me.
