happy #wwdc day! if you’re new here, at 10am i’ll be flooding your TL with updates and overly-dramatic reactions to apple’s keynote.

don’t expect any hardware — but we will get a first look at iOS 14, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and macOS 10.16 — rumored to be named Big Sur.
it's time #WWDC20 .
YES TIM! He BETTER kick this off with #GeorgeFloyd and #BlackLivesMatter !!!
deciding do use the Steve Jobs theater anyway >>>
iOS time. #WWDC2020
iOS 14.

sidebar: i’m really living for this setting
oh. widgets. ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh #WWDC2020
App Library is kinda fire. #WWDC2020
It's basically a bunch of folders that fill automatically.

There's a search field at the top, a recently added folder, and a folder of suggestions of apps you might want to use next.
remember when they took widgets away from macOS? lol

these look a lot like that. #WWDC2020
picture in picture sounds so simple, but it's sorely needed. #WWDC2020
the thing about this is it'll really depend on the developer implementation.

looking at you @YouTube -- don't block this shit because you're petty.
the new siri design >>>>
one thing that doesn't get enough attention -- apple spends a lot of time focusing on privacy. the fact that a lot of these information parsing functions happen ON DEVICE and aren't sent to a server somewhere is important.
messages -- my favorite part. #WWDC2020
inline replies to specific messages in group conversations. life changer.
i'm really into these pinned conversations too.
maps. *yawn*
can we take a moment to praise this wheelchair though? shoutout to Meg Frost.
for those of you who have been severely burned by apple maps in the past -- i can assure you that it's solid now. really really solid.
CarKey! this is THE advancement of the day, IMO.
tap phone to unlock door, place phone on charing pad to enable car start button. start car. go.
super secure. share keys. select access levels. yes. yes. yes.
Apple working on industry standard to make CarKey work based on U1 chip and UWB -- should see wide rollout next year.
App Clips -- a small part of an app. not a full install. let's you interact with things quickly
like… little pop-up apps that let you do things like unlock parking, pay for coffee and other shit without downloading the whole ass app.
aaaaannnddd now we're moving to iPadOS.
so they're giving the iPad a full finder window and calling it "sidebars" lol
girl, this is a finder window in full screen.
🚨🚨 INCOMING CALLS WON'T TAKE UP YOUR WHOLE ASS SCREEN NOW 🚨🚨 #WWDC2020
Scribble.

handwriting in ANY text field and it's converted to text.

yes yes yes yes.
these apple pencil enhancements -- also life changing.
my handwriting sucks, but maybe that doesn't matter so much anymore 😭😭😭
airpods software. wasn’t expecting this -- but it's a welcome addition.
SPATIAL AUDIO TO AIRPODS PRO.

YES PLEASE.
my body is shaking.
watchOS 7 time.
FaceSharing -- that's neat. You can create watch faces and share them with friends, on a website, etc.
!!! strength training and core training workouts !!!
and dance.
Activity is being renamed to Fitness.
sleep tracking!
i used to use a 3rd party app to track my sleep and wake me up at optimal times -- it really, truly, made a difference.

then my lifestyle changed and all that went to shit.
this hand washing function is the cutest UI. omg.
watchOS 7 detects when you start washing your hands -- motion detects handwashing, mic detects water.

a countdown tells you how long to keep washing then sends an audio and haptic notification when you're done.

with cute bubbles.
time to talk about privacy.

i wish people would pay attention to privacy efforts so that they can stop spreading crazy misinformation on social media.
i was super excited for Sign-In with Apple when it was announced last year, but adoption seems to be ... slow. maybe that'll change.
new App Store policy will require apps to ask for permission to track you across apps and websites.

it’ll also require apps to share exactly what information they may be collecting from you.
the ad tech industry is probably pissed, tbh.
the new nutrition-label style tracking disclosure is a lot easier to digest than an entire 'terms and conditions' policy.
HomeKit -- y'all know I'm a HomeKit stan.
major!! -- Amazon Google Apple and other companies formed an alliance and open-sourced HomeKit to be part of the standard.
i yell at siri to control my entire place -- lights, a/c, locks, etc.

so i’m all for it.
HomeKit + tvOS 14 integration? magical.

face recognition works with HomePod to announce who is at the door, live views of doorbell cams to Apple TV.
Sorry -- forgot to mention we moved into tvOS.
Apple TV+ (the app/streaming service) coming to Sony and Vizio smart TVs later this summer.
tv show trailer? idk. time go to pee.
macOS time.
macOS -- BIG SUR.
Big Sur baybeeeeee
thissss is looking very iOS in design.

which -- i'm not mad at. at all.
weird that the iPad is getting more mac-like, and the mac is getting more iPad/iOS like.

at some point these WILL converge. watch.
control center coming to macOS? fire.
widgets.

Dashboard has been resurrected.
messages for mac needs a COMPLETE overhaul.
thankfully it appears as though it will get everything message for iOS received.

thank god.
Safari is getting some updates.

but let's be real -- who uses Safari?
safari feels like THE heaviest browser. still. idk what the benchmarks say.
but maybe that's changing?

idk.

what i will say is that the privacy/security enhancements make me consider giving it another spin.
basically, they made Safari prettier, gave us a customizable start page, and made big changes to privacy. great. let's move on.
whenever i see any tab management, i think about my homegirl (who i will not name here) who always has no less than 23 tabs open.

and like ... girl, how? for what? it makes me chuckle.
mac is transitioning to it’s own Apple Silicon.

whoooooosh
this man is really hard to understand.
long short -- Apple has been making it's own processors for iPhones and iPads since inception, allowing for them to tightly integrate hardware + software.

they're now about to do the same for the mac.
still here -- just watching these native product demos.
they could've done without this Shadow of the Tomb Raider demo.
all of the OSes we've seen today will be available for developer beta today.

public beta next month.

everyone else in the Fall.
