My department is starting an ED&I "task force" and I feel like they should hire me as a consultant to constantly remind them what the actual problems are and stop them from getting carried away putting "diversity" bandaids on everything and not changing any underlying structures.
Like it would be easy. Just give me a teaching reduction and then actually listen to me tell you all the things I've been saying about the department this entire year. lol.
And I repeat: give me a teaching reduction. 😎 Because you know I bring some much needed perspective, but it's not easy to do all this extra service work while maintaining a high level of research productivity. Adding teaching into the mix this fall is going to be tough. https://twitter.com/KJMDPhD/status/1275855780785381376
An excellent thread on the topic of joining an EDI committee as a faculty of color. https://twitter.com/profgabrielle/status/1283046856973582336
